Golfing for families in North Lake Tahoe

There are plenty of things to do for families in Lake Tahoe in summertime, and one of our favorites is playing golf in Squaw Valley. The Family Lake Tahoe Golf Special at the Links at Squaw Creek makes a traditional game of golf much more accessible for the little putters in your group.

Tee off from 5:30 p.m. all summer long on the Links at Squaw Creek with the affordable Family Lake Tahoe Golf Special. For just $40 per adult, your family can play the front nine from the family tees - just 150 feet from the green. Children under 17 are free when accompanied by an adult and rental clubs are half price. Children's rental clubs are available.

Whether your kids have never played before, are just getting into the sport, or are eager to swing their clubs at every opportunity, the Family Lake Tahoe Golf Special at the Links at Squaw Creek makes for a great evening outdoors enjoying Squaw Valley.

When you're done, head over to Sandy's Pub for a casual dinner, then roast some s'mores by the fire. Bingo! Perfect summer evening in Lake Tahoe (and all without getting in your car once).

Opening Day on the Links at Squaw Creek in North Lake Tahoe

It's Opening Day on the Links at Squaw Creek (psst - tee times are just $59!) and this North Lake Tahoe golf course is in fantastic shape! While the golf will be excellent again this year, we wanted to take a moment to address some of the factors that make the Links at Squaw Creek one of California's most environmentally sound golf courses.

In preparation for this year's Tahoe golf season in midst of the California drought, the ValleyCrest grounds team has been busy upgrading our sprinkler systems and enhancing the way we landscape in a continued effort to lessen our environmental footprint.

We have replaced approximately 80 sprinklers with Toro 835 Adjustable Arc sprinklers, which will allow us to water only targeted areas (and avoid watering cart paths). We have also installed 30 new Toro VP Satellites which allow for complete control over each sprinkler head from a central location.

We are now using drip irrigation for our landscaping and have spread bark mulch to keep water in and weeds out. Drip irrigation feeds water directly to the plants and not to an entire area, which reduces our over all water usage.

We have always used a minimum of organic fertilizer, and nothing else, to help green up the course. So there is no toxic runoff into Squaw Creek or our ponds, which are stocked with trout for the fly-fishing program.

With these irrigation upgrades and the weather last weekend, the course is ready for another great season of high mountain golf.

Tee times are $59 through June 7, 4-Packs are valid any time and are just $199, or Unlimited Season Passes are just $619. See you on the tee box!
