Resort at Squaw Creek, A Destination Hotel, in Lake Tahoe Undergoes $7 Million Guest Room Renovation
New Mountain Meets Modern Design Mimics Features of Surrounding Olympic Valley
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. – July 30, 2015 – Resort at Squaw Creek, A Destination Hotel, has embarked on a $7 million guest room renovation to further enhance the experience for travelers visiting the Lake Tahoe region. The new modern meets mountain design aims to give guests a sense of place as it draws inspiration from natural surroundings found in the Olympic Valley and surrounding Sierra Mountain range.
“We are constantly seeking ways to elevate our guest experience and are lucky that the property’s success has afforded us the opportunity to renovate,” said André Priemer, general manager for Resort at Squaw Creek. “It’s been nearly a decade since our last renovation, so we hope the new room design will leave a lasting impression on our guests.”
As part of the renovation, guest rooms have been refinished with soothing neutral textures and colors such as warm wood tones, rich leather, mixed metal and natural stone. Mindful of the property’s stunning views, the design includes new elements of light drapery and pops of color to complement and maximize Resort at Squaw Creek’s surroundings. These touches of color include inspiration from goldenrod and purple lupine, two common, colorful wildflowers found in the area.
New artwork from local photographers such as Jeff Dow Photography also was incorporated into the room design.
The first phase of the multi-million dollar renovation was competed in early June and the second phase of enhancements will be finished is November in time for the ski season.
The 405-room Resort at Squaw Creek, A Destination Hotel, is a AAA Four Diamond property. In addition to ski-in, ski-out access in the winter, the property features several restaurants highlighting regionally sourced ingredients, a full-service spa, pool and hot tub complex and a shopping promenade. Winter visitors also can enjoy an on-property ice rink, Nordic center, dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Resort at Squaw Creek, has been recognized as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s “Top 50 Ski Hotels” in North America and “Top 150 Resorts: U.S. Mainland.” With its abundance of amenities and location 10 minutes from the shores of Lake Tahoe, the resort remains popular year-round.
