Celebrity Athletes to Come out for Warren Miller-Led Gala
Tickets on Sale for Squaw Valley Institute’s ‘A Toast to Tahoe Skiing’
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. - With filmmaking legend Warren Miller as the master of ceremonies, a number of local Olympians and local high-profile athletes have signed-on to be part of "A Toast to Tahoe Skiing," which takes place at Resort at Squaw Creek on November 15. Participants include current and past U.S. Ski Team members such as former Overall World Cup Champion Tamara McKinney, the most decorated American downhill and super G skier in history, Daron Rahlves, Olympic silver medalist Shannon Bahrke, and Olympian Kristin Krone. In addition, Warren Miller film stars such as Scot Schmidt, Eric DesLauriers, Robb Gaffney, Robbie Huntoon, Ingrid Backstrom and Cody Townsend will participate. Others include Elyse Saugstad, a frequently seen face at Squaw Valley USA, and reigning World Freeride Champion, and Debbie Dutton of fame from "Hot Dog - The Movie." Many of these athletes and celebrities will join local notables in a fashion show highlighting the latest apparel and gear from Porter's, Sports Tahoe, Resort at Squaw Creek Sport Shop and Elite Feet.
However, A Toast to Tahoe Skiing is far more than a fashion show. Gourmet food from Resort at Squaw Creek's Ristorante Montagna and Wine Bar's new European-influenced menu will be served, and an auction of celebrity "ski days" and two and three-day getaways to sought-after destinations such as Vail, Sante Fe, Stowe and Monterey, among others, will be put up for bid to raise funds for Squaw Valley Institute. Online bidding with a complete list of auction items will be available ahead of time.
Tickets for A Toast to Tahoe Skiing run $85 per person are available online at Squaw Valley Institute's Website at http://www.squawvalleyinstitute.org/, or via phone at 530.581.4138. VIP tables for 10 are available for groups of 10 for $1,200. The event begins at 6 PM. A free post-event party takes place in Sandy's Pub from 10 PM to 1 AM, featuring Warren Miller movies and food and drink specials.
"With Warren Miller at the microphone along with a tremendous group of athletes and celebrities and the resort ambiance, this is sure to be an evening to be remembered" said John Wilcox, president of Squaw Valley Institute. "It will be Lake Tahoe's kickoff to the new ski season."
