Kids Healthy Eating Spotlighted at Resort at Squaw Creek™ During National Nutrition Month
Recipe Contest Offers Major Opportunity
Olympic Valley, Calif. – In conjunction with Destination Hotels and Resorts, Resort at Squaw Creek™ is celebrating National Nutrition Month with a contest and activities designed to encourage children’s healthy eating. With the inaugural Kids Healthy Recipe Contest families are encouraged to submit their favorite healthy recipe that children enjoy eating. The winning recipe will be featured on the company’s Kids Café healthy menu selections for a year, and the chef who submits the top entry also wins a trip for a family of four to any full-service Destination Hotels & Resorts property.
In addition to the contest, Resort at Squaw Creek™ chefs have created a few additional healthy alternatives to the kids’ menu to celebrate Kids Healthy Eating Month. Among the new menu offerings are items such as a salmon sandwich, vegetable crudité, and Fruit Shots On The Run, which is a mixed berries, orange juice, yogurt and mint smoothie. These items, along with several other nutritional options, will be available in Six Peaks Grille and Sandy’s Pub through March.
“It’s so important to get kids started on the right foot nutritionally,” said executive chef Jason Friendy. “That healthy lifestyle carries over for the rest of their lives.”
To enter the contest, visit www.destinationhotels.com/recipe-contest and submit a healthy recipe that kids enjoy eating – this can be a recipe for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack or healthy beverage. Consumers are encouraged to “like” various recipes that catch their eye. The top three recipes with the most “likes” will be prepared and tasted by a group of Destination Hotels & Resorts food and beverage professionals along with a children’s panel of judges.
As mentioned, the winning recipe will be featured on the Destination Kids Café menu for a year. And, the person who submits the winning recipe will win a three-night stay for four people at any full services hotel or resort in the Destination collection. The grand prize also includes airfare for a family of four, as well as a specially prepared multi-course dinner at the hotel, featuring their Kids Café winning menu item prepared by the property’s executive chef. A Destination Hotels & Resorts executive chef also will arrange to make an appearance in the classroom of the winner’s children to give a healthy eating and cooking presentation.
Second and third place winners will have their recipe posted on the Destination Hotels & Resorts website under the Kids Café section for a year.
