Lake Tahoe Resort Reaches Out To San Diegans With Value-laden 'Ski Getaway' Package
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. - Getting from San Diego to Lake Tahoe just got a whole lot easier thanks to Southwest Airlines. In celebration of Southwest's soon-to-be-launched nonstop, daily jet service linking San Diego International Airport-Lindbergh Field (SAN) to Reno, Nev. (RNO), Resort at Squaw Creek - one of Conde Nast Traveler's "Top 50 Ski Resorts in North America" - is offering an attractive package for winter recreational enthusiasts.
The resort's "Tahoe Ski Getaway" three-day package, available March 11 (the first day of the new non-stop service) through May 10, features convenient ski-in/ski-out access to Squaw Valley USA (home of the 1960 Winter Olympics) plus the following:
- Deluxe lodging accommodations for three nights at Resort at Squaw Creek, located within an easy drive from Reno-Tahoe International Airport
- Daily lift ticket to Squaw Valley USA (one for each adult in the party)
- Dining credit up to $100 per room, per day (usable at any of the resort?s four diverse restaurants)
- Valet parking ($25/day savings)
- Complimentary ski valet (resort attendants will greet skiers at base of property's chairlift, store skis and warm ski boots, and retrieve skis and boots upon request)

Package rates start at $265 (per night, per person based on double occupancy), while airfare, taxes and resort fees are not included. Reservations are based on availability.
The new nonstop, one-hour and 35-minute flight will depart San Diego twice daily at 9:35 a.m. and 6:55 p.m. The return flights depart Reno at 8:20 a.m. and 5:55 p.m. Introductory fares from March 11 to May 11 begin as low as $69 one-way. (Please consult www.southwest.com for flight information.)
The resort's ski-in, ski-out chairlift to Squaw Valley USA provides for quick access to more than 4,000 acres of terrain served by an extensive network of 33 chairlifts including North America's only Funitel and the world-famous KT-22 Express lift. Guests also can enjoy a host of other activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sled tours and an on-property ice skating rink. Plus, the property's on-site Ski Shop provides ski and snowboard rentals, expert boot fitting, lift tickets for purchase and complimentary ski lockers.
