'Magical Memories' Package Dates Expanded at North Lake Tahoe Resort

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. - AAA Four-Diamond Resort at Squaw Creek, a Destination Hotels & Resorts-managed property, has expanded available dates for the "Magical Memories Bed & Breakfast" package to include Thanksgiving Weekend. Starting at $199 per room, per night, the package includes accommodations in a deluxe guest room and breakfast for up to two adults and two children. Available from now through December 18, 2008, the nightly package allows guests the opportunity to experience the popular annual holiday celebration, "Magical Memories," with its multitude of music, entertainment, culinary and recreational offerings for the entire family.
"Magical Memories," officially begins on Thanksgiving with the annual buffet dinner at Resort at Squaw Creek, and kicks into high gear the following day when the resort becomes a fully-illuminated winter wonderland during the Gingerbread Village Unveiling and Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony. Drawing hundreds of people each year, this kickoff celebration on November 28 comes complete with live music, carolers, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus and Santa's merry elves, ice skating with Buddy Bear, complimentary servings of hot chocolate and oven-fresh gingerbread cookies under the stars. This event is open to the public as well as resort guests.
Subsequent days will feature events such as breakfast with Santa, live après ski music, Buddy Bear cookies, cocoa and crafts, winter wonderland stories, ice skating with Buddy Bear, moonlight snowshoe tours, snowman making contests, elf tuck-Ins, wine receptions, and Warren Miller movie nights in Sandy's Pub.
In addition, several key music and entertainment productions occur during "Magical Memories." On December 7, Squaw Valley Institute presents a the Truckee Community Chorus at 3:30 PM. Later that evening, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival producers will present the "Holiday Choral Celebration," in the resort's Grand Sierra Ballroom with VIP and dinner packages available. On New Year's Day, from 11 a.m. to noon, a legion of brave souls will greet 2009 with an icy splash into one of the resort's unheated swimming pools for the Polar Bear Plunge, and an indoor "tailgate party" will await guests in Cascades and Sandy's Pub following the big splash.
A full complement of special Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's meals also are planned, as well as an International Buffet Dinner and Adult Gala event on New Year's Eve, with balloon drop at 9:00 PM (and toast suitable for children), and a festive midnight champagne toast.
The resort's ski-in, ski-out chairlift to Squaw Valley USA provides quick access to more than 4,000 acres of terrain served by an extensive network of 33 lifts including North America's only Funitel and the world-famous KT-22 Express lift. Visitors also can enjoy a host of other activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sled tours and an on-property ice skating rink. Plus, the property's on-site ski shop provides ski and snowboard rentals, expert boot fitting, lift tickets for purchase and complimentary ski lockers.
