Magical Memories Returns to North Lake Tahoe Resort

Bed and Breakfast Package Offered

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. -- Resort at Squaw Creek's popular annual holiday program, "Magical Memories," returns over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend when the AAA Four-Diamond resort rolls out an impressive array of family-oriented activities, which continue through January 4, 2009. In celebration of the event, a special $199 "Magical Bed & Breakfast" package featuring a deluxe guest room for up to two adults and two children (12 and under) has been released. This offer is valid during non-holiday periods through December 18, 2008, and is subject to availability.

"Magical Memories" commences with a Thanksgiving buffet dinner just one day prior to the resort becoming a fully-illuminated winter wonderland at the Gingerbread Village Unveiling and Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony. Drawing hundreds of people each year, this kickoff celebration on November 28 comes complete with live music, carolers, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus and Santa's merry elves, ice skating with Buddy Bear, complimentary servings of hot chocolate and s'mores roasts under the stars. This event is free to resort guests and the public.

Subsequent days will feature events such as breakfast with Santa, live après ski music, Buddy Bear cookies, cocoa and crafts, winter wonderland stories, ice skating with Buddy Bear, moonlight snowshoe tours, snowman making contests, elf tuck-Ins, movies for the kids, culinary events and Warren Miller movie nights in Sandy's Pub.

On New Year's Day, from 11 a.m. to noon, a legion of brave souls will greet 2009 with an icy splash into one of the resort's unheated swimming pools for the Polar Bear Plunge. Hot chocolate will be awaiting the participants afterward, as well as the traditional collegiate football bowl games aired on big screen televisions at Sandy's Pub.

A full complement of special Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day meals also are planned, as are an International Buffet Dinner and Adult Gala event on New Year's Eve.

The resort's ski-in, ski-out chairlift to Squaw Valley USA provides quick access to more than 4,000 acres of terrain served by an extensive network of 33 lifts including North America's only Funitel and the world-famous KT-22 Express lift. Visitors also can enjoy a host of other activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sled tours and an on-property ice skating rink. Plus, the property's on-site ski shop provides ski and snowboard rentals, expert boot fitting, lift tickets for purchase and complimentary ski lockers. Squaw Valley USA traditionally opens in late November.
