New Year's Eve Gala at Resort at Squaw Creek Offers Something for All Ages

Gourmet buffet dinner, magician, DJ, dancing, kid's room, toasts and more

Olympic Valley, Calif. – Resort at Squaw Creek™ offers a Tahoe New Year’s Eve gala that brings together an expansive gourmet buffet, music, family-friendly options with a supervised children’s movie and play room, late night appetizers and two balloon drops with sparking wine and cider to ring in 2013.  The event, which takes place in the Grand Sierra Ballroom, begins at 7 p.m. and runs $76 for adults, $26 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for children 3-and-under.   Prices are plus tax and gratuity.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling 530.581.6615.  

“We pull out all the stops for our New Year’s Eve dinner buffet,” said Jason Friendy, executive chef at Resort at Squaw Creek.  “We invite everyone to come hungry.” 

 

Chilled items at the buffet include delectable cuisine such as: an assorted array of gourmet cheeses, berries, sundried razz-cherries and candied pecans, bakery fresh baguettes and assorted crackers; prosciutto di parma, soprasata, bresola, mixed olives, roasted red and yellow peppers, artichoke hearts, fire roasted tomatoes, shaved parmesano reggiano, and assorted crostini and breadsticks; and a raw bar with Pacific oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and spicy cocktail sauce.  Among the hot items guests will find are: garlic  shrimp and Bilboa chorizo; kung pao chicken; and Chianti-braised veal with tomato and mushroom.  Chef-attended stations will serve dishes such as tri-peppercorn-crusted New York sirloin with fire-charged 151 Rum flambé; farfalle and penne pasta with sauce parma rosa and pesto cream, tossed to order with an assortment of toppings including smoked chicken breast, assorted wild mushrooms, asparagus tips, tomato supremes, apple wood bacon, shaved pecorino, baby spinach, roasted garlic and fine herbs.  

 

The kid’s buffet features creamy macaroni and cheese, mini pizzas, chicken tenders and French fries.  Desserts include chocolate fondue with assorted fruits and breads, Grand Marnier sabayon with fresh berries, white chocolate and raspberry mousse parfaits, and mini strawberry, blueberry and peppermint cheesecakes.

The resort’s ski-in, ski-out chairlift to Squaw Valley, provides quick access to more than 6,000 acres of terrain at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.  Visitors also can enjoy a host of other activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sled tours, horse-drawn sleigh rides and an on-property ice skating rink.  Plus, the property’s on-site ski shop provides ski and snowboard rentals, expert boot fitting, lift tickets for purchase and complimentary ski lockers.
