North Lake Tahoe Resort Opens Kitchen for Mother's Day -- Literally
Meet the chefs
Olympic Valley, Calif. - The AAA Four-Diamond Resort at Squaw Creek is launching a new concept for Mother's Day Brunch in the signature restaurant, Six Peaks Grille. It's called the "open kitchen." For the first time, guests will literally be invited into the kitchen, where they can see the culinary team in action, interact with the chefs and order from a selection a la carte menu entrees.
"It will be like stepping into a Food Network show," said Ramon Villegas, director of restaurants for Resort at Squaw Creek. "The kitchen will be the stage for lively and dynamic interplay between guests and chefs, and since this is the first time we are offering the ?open kitchen,' we expect it to be quite fun and unique for everyone. And with 10-percent of the proceeds going to fight breast cancer, it's definitely a win-win situation." Executive Chef Jacques Cornelis, Six Peaks Grille Chef Chad Shrewsbury, Chef Joe Hardwick, and other members of the culinary staff will be in attendance.
In addition to the al la carte items, the kitchen offerings will include a dessert station with freshly made beignets. In the main dining room guests will enjoy buffet-style presentations, with a variety of freshly prepared items including smoked salmon eggs Benedict, a ceviche bar with scallops, fish and shrimp, an assortment of salads, and a carving station with roasted stuffed turkey. A wide array of desserts will await guests, too. These are merely a sample of the items offered on the brunch menu.
On the beverage side, a Bellini bar, with unlimited champagne and mimosas, will be available for an additional fee.
The Mother's Day Brunch runs $48 per person ($20 for children ages 5-12), plus tax and gratuity. Reservations, which can be made by calling 530.581.6621, are highly recommended. Ten percent of the proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Northern Nevada.
Additionally, a "Spa and Brunch" option is offered - combining the "open kitchen" brunch with a 50-minute massage, facial or body treatment. The package runs $139 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
