PRESS KIT: From Pastries to Prix Fixe, Resort at Squaw Creek Offers All
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. – Summer 2014 – Mountain fare has come a long way in the last 15 years. Ski areas have been evolving and stepping up their offerings and along with it, raising the bar on culinary offerings. But as one of Lake Tahoe’s premier, all-inclusive, slope-side resorts, Resort at Squaw Creek in Lake Tahoe, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, has helped pave the way for exceptional cuisine.
Dining opportunities abound at the resort, and the selection and quality is nothing short of what one would expect from a AAA Four Diamond Resort. Executive Chef Jason Friendy has been with the resort since 2008 and upholds the highest culinary standards in all the kitchens.
Six Peaks Grille is the resort’s flagship restaurant and offers the rare mix of elegance and comfort. Menus are seasonal, featuring local and regional ingredients. Six Peaks’ menu leans toward the creative, sophisticated side, with bold flavors and innovative combinations – think duck confit and avocado mousse or butter-poached lobster with caramelized fennel. Each individual dish is made with precision and care and can be expertly complemented with a wine selected from an extensive, award-winning collection.
Cascades is the perfect way to welcome the day in the Sierra Nevada. The family-friendly eatery is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., offering breakfast and brunch buffets and a la carte menus. Breakfast at the restaurant features both a Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar complete with a vast selection of accompaniments. As hearty and scrumptious as the food is, Cascades is best known for its floor-to-ceiling windows looking out upon the meadows of Olympic Valley. Whether it be fresh morning snow, blooming wildflowers, or the spectacular turning of fall colors, the view never fails to impress and encourage guests to seize the day.
No matter what the season, sport or occasion, the Resort at Squaw Creek can nourish you. Sweet Potatoes Deli is a gourmet grab-and-go with coffee, pastries, sandwiches, handcrafted pizzas, salads, and desserts. It also serves as a funky gift boutique for those last-minute souvenirs, sundries, and other fun stuff. Sweet Potatoes is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for late morning and late night snacks.
Sandy’s Pub, named after valley matriarch Sandy Poulsen, is family-friendly pub offering appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and salads (along with a full bar and wide selection of wines and microbrews). The adjacent patio is the perfect way to wind down from an adventure-packed day.
