OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. – May 5, 2016 – With the change in seasons comes an opportunity to reboot and reignite your spirit. Resort at Squaw Creek, A Destination Hotel, has created the perfect setting to do this during the property’s inaugural Soul to Solstice wellness weekend June 17-19. The retreat, aptly named for the summer solstice, which occurs during the weekend, includes indoor and outdoor programming that draws from the energy and beauty of the surrounding Sierra Mountains. The schedule includes guest speakers that inspire, outdoor pursuits, yoga and Pilates classes and more.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, June 17 with a welcome “Healthy Happy Hour” for participants to mingle with one another and the guest speakers. Zents mini treatments also will be provided during the happy hour. Zents is one of the exclusive brands carried at The Spa at Squaw Creek. Zents products are known for their powerful scents with spa-grade, hydrating natural ingredients.

Participants will start their Saturday with a Vinyasa yoga class outside, surrounded by Squaw Valley’s six peaks. After the morning session, classes resume inside with a Pilates class. All Soul to Solstice yoga and Pilates classes are provided in conjunction with Tahoe Mountain Fitness.

After lunch, the key note speaker Donna Hartley shares her story of survival with “Fire up your Life: A Journey of Transformation.” Hartley’s empowering story of survival draws from her three life-threatening events, all of which ironically occurred on dates of March 1. She inspires personal leadership and gives proven strategies for mastering change in life. Hartley is a graduate of the University of Hawaii and a former Miss Hawaii. She is the author of a series of books including Fire Up Your Life!, Fire Up Your Intuition! and Fire Up Your Healing!

The day wraps up with a mellow flow yoga session and wine reception. Six Peaks, the resort’s signature restaurant, will offer a special healthy dining menu that evening.

The Sunday program begins with sunrise flow yoga followed by the day’s keynote speaker Norma Jean Bowers who will be speaking about her experience as the first woman to summit Denali in Alaska, solo. Her motivational speech, “Denali Solo: Realizing Your Dream,” will show how focus and believing in yourself can help anyone reach their goals and dreams.

After Bowers’ inspiring talk, participants will but their dreams on paper with a vision board workshop led by life coach Kathleen McNichols. After lunch there will be a Roll and Restore workshop, which uses foam rollers and myofasical balls to improve flexibility and performance, followed by a Nurture Through Nature guided hike up picturesque Shirley Canyon.

Spa treatments are available a la carte throughout the weekend and can be booked either day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Spa treatments are 20 percent off throughout the Soul to Solstice weekend.  Additional activities such as standup paddle boarding on Lake Tahoe and a self-guided bike tour along the Truckee River are available.
