Resort at Squaw Creek Given Special Recognition at 55th Annual North Lake Tahoe Community Awards
Film projects honored
Olympic Valley, Calif. - Resort at Squaw Creek, a Destination Hotels & Resorts-managed property, was presented a special recognition award at the 55th Annual North Lake Tahoe Community Awards from the Placer County-Lake Tahoe Film Office as "Business of the Year" for the support of commercial productions in the Lake Tahoe region.
Last year, Resort at Squaw Creek was the site of numerous commercial and photo shoots including the Sony Blu-Ray "Tumble" commercial, in which the resort's ice-rink was visually transformed into a frozen pond. Other companies that selected Resort at Squaw Creek for commercial or photo shoots in 2008 include Apple, California Travel and Tourism Commission, American Eagle Outfitters and Disney Travel. Last month, Resort at Squaw Creek was a featured location for the Australian version of the Today Show.
"We have a one-of-a-kind scenic setting that many location scouts find attractive," said Les Pedersen, director of sales and marketing for Resort at Squaw Creek. "We also have a very proactive film commissioner in Beverly Lewis, which helps quite a bit too."
Resort at Squaw Creek sits at an elevation of 6,200 feet in the Sierra Nevada on over 650 meadow and forested hillside acres in Olympic Valley, California.
