Ristorante Montagna and Wine Bar Returns to its Italian Roots
New Affordable Menu
Olympic Valley, Calif. – Ristorante Montagna and Wine Bar at Lake Tahoe’s Resort at Squaw Creek will reopen on December 19 for the winter season with a new theme and menu. Revisiting the Italian roots on which the restaurant began, cucina povera, an Italian phrase referencing “humble cooking,” directs the chef’s creations for this season with Italian classics offered in small and large plate concepts.
“We wanted to make Ristorante Montagna family-friendly and truly affordable, so we came up with a terrific menu of tasty Italian cuisine that we know guests will appreciate,” said Heimo Brandstatter, assistant general manager at Resort at Squaw Creek. “Many of the dishes offered are designed to be shared.”
In addition to starters such as minestrone soup, shrimp scampi, calamari fritte, and handmade mozzarella marinara, diners will find a selection of salads and pizzas. Pasta dishes available in small or large plate configurations include: Penne Arrabiata, comprised of penne pasta tossed with basil, whole tomatoes, roasted garlic and hot pepper flakes; Manicotti, made of creamy burrata ricotta filled pasta with tomatoes, basil and Béchamel sauce; and favorite Lasagna, with sheets layered with spinach, fresh herb ricotta, four cheese blend, served with meat or marinara sauce.
Specialty items include dishes such as: Lamb Ossobuco, slowly-braised lamb in red wine, served with mash potatoes, Swiss chard and house demi-glaze; Veal Piccata, with veal cutlets, sautéed with capers, lemon and white wine, served over Aglio spinach; Chicken Saltimbocca, made from chicken breasts lightly breaded, prosciutto and provolone cheese, served in a light veal sauce with caramelized onions ; and Eggplant Parmesan, sliced eggplant breaded and fried, layered with provolone cheese and marinara sauce.
Ristorante Montagna and Wine Bar will be open Friday through Monday evenings from 5:00 PM through 9:30 PM. For reservations, call 530.581.6618.
