WALK

Want to explore Tahoe by foot? Meet up on the paved trail just beyond the resort’s front door and head to Tahoe City along the Truckee River. The trail is a delight for all ages with plenty of places to rest and explore the river. Deep swimming holes abound for those who want to take a dip. Look for trout in the shady pools or watch the fly fishermen reel in the catch of the day. The path is perfect for walking or jogging, or take a cruiser bike and stop for lakeside lunch or shopping in Tahoe City. For more adventure, hike up Shirley Canyon Lake Trail to experience the snowmelt as it comes down from the mountains in a series of waterfalls. In summer, take a dip in the granite-lined pools that collect underneath the falls, or you can swim in the lake at the top of the trail. In fall, the aspen trees light up the trail in vibrant shades of gold, orange and red.

Destination Taste

Authentic, simple and delicious. Destination Taste is our way of welcoming you upon your arrival with an invitation to savor a “bite” of our local flavor. This small treat provides the perfect tasty introduction to the unique cuisine, famous dishes and culinary delights in our destination.

Taste of the Sierra Nevada

Taste of the Sierra Nevada

In the 1840’s, news of gold brought settlers, also called “forty-niners,” to California and to the Sierra Nevada mountain range. During the famous California Gold Rush, they flocked to gold mines and panned for gold flakes in the area’s rivers and streams. The Gold Rush was instrumental in the development of the Wild West and to honor it, Resort at Squaw Creek would like to offer you a Taste of the Sierra Nevada, complete with Tahoe Gold. This chocolate resembles gold nuggets found here over a hundred years ago and looks like the river rocks that populate the area today. More importantly, a Taste of the Sierra Nevada reveals a story that’s worth being told.

Served daily in the lobby from 4-6pm
